Learn About and Taste Traditional Awamori
A long-established brewery, founded in 1887. Located in the castle town of Shurisakiyama-cho, the brewery gets its name from the Zuisen spring that bubbles up near the Zuisen Mon (Gate) of Shuri Castle. In addition to “Usaki”, made using black koji mold from before WWII, they also produce many high-quality sakes using traditional techniques. In recent years, they have tried their hand at producing stylish liqueurs, being popular with young customers, as well. You can tour the factory and join a taste testing.
