The National Theatre passing on Ryukyuan culture

National Theatre Okinawa presents the many faces of traditional Okinawan performing arts including Ryukyuan dance, sanshin (shamisen) music, Okinawan plays, and folk performing arts, as well as the traditional narrative dance, Kumi Odori, designated by the National Government as an Important Intangible Cultural Property. The Theatre houses a free exhibit on the history of traditional performing arts in Okinawa. See the website for the performance schedule and ticketing information.
