Hotel Emerald Isle Ishigakijima is the southernmost renovated hotel in Japan. Not only does it offer simple, clean guest rooms, it also functions as an exhibition and gallery venue, showing the works by artists and creators from Ishigaki Island and elsewhere, including Okinawan illustrator/designer pokke104 and others. Regular exhibitions are held in the hotel’s second-floor event space. The hotel offers various other services, including omusubi (rice ball) packed breakfasts. Its location is also pleasingly convenient, within walking distance of the ferry terminal for visiting other islands.
