Visit the miracle island formed out of nothing but coral fragments
Barasu Island is an island that lies just off the coast of Iriomote Island, one of the remote Yaeyama Islands. It is almost too small to be called an island at all, and has nothing on it but countless tiny fragments of coral, which stay sparkling above the surface of the ocean even at high tide. The island is especially beautiful at sunset. The surrounding area is a shallow reef, and upon entering the water visitors are greeted by bright and highly-transparent ocean spreading out around them. By donning snorkeling gear, visitors can also encounter schools of tropical fish swimming beneath the surface.
