A hidden scenic spot with a fantastic view symbolic of Iriomote Island
Pinaisara Waterfall is located on the northern side of Mt. Tedou-san, which is situated in the western part of Iriomote Island. With a drop of 55 m, it is the highest waterfall in Okinawa Prefecture. In the local dialect “pinai” means “beard” and “sara” means “hanging,” and so the name can be loosely translated as “hanging beard.” Participate in kayaking and trekking tours to the waterfall basin to enjoy the natural beauty of the island as you experience the subtropical jungle for yourself first hand.
