Experience the beautiful and colorful world of dyed items

Shuri Ryusen is a dyeing workshop situated near to Shurijo Castle, founded over 43 years ago. It has an extensive lineup of traditional Bingata items. In addition to being able to observe the work of the skilled craftspeople at close quarters, visitors can also participate in hands-on demonstrations of coral dyeing (in which cloth is placed over actual coral and dyed in such a way as to reproduce the natural coral pattern) and create a truly unique, one-of-a-kind design. Visitors can also take part in Bingata pattern color dying demonstrations and coral dyeing of items such as T-shirts. Finished items can also be taken home as souvenirs.
