A new style of lacquerware that expresses traditional beauty
KAKUMAN LACQUERWARE is the oldest, longest standing Ryukyu lacquerware shop in all of Okinawa. The KAKUMAN continues to pass down the skills and traditions of its first generation founder—a lacquer craftsman to the court of the Ryukyu Kingdom—while at the same time incorporating the latest techniques and contemporary sensibilities. In recent years, KAKUMAN has launched its own accessory brand named Nui Mun. The brand is drawing attention with its modern designs born out of the concept of “wearing lacquerware” on a daily basis, which make use of the unique glossy beauty of lacquer, and uniquely Okinawan tsuikin lacquering techniques.
