Sewing Fiber Bananas Grown from Seeds
Banana cloth is cloth sewn using fibers gathered from fiber bananas, and it is a traditional craft passed down since the Ryukyu Kingdom era. Here, these fiber bananas are grown from seeds, and the entire process from gathering the fibers, to spinning, dyeing, and sewing them is done based on traditional Okinawan fiber cloth manufacturing techniques. Banana paper is made in the same way, and these products are dyed using the traditional bingata method of dyeing and are displayed and sold in galleries.
