Ryukyuan indigo-dye fabrics to color your world vivid
Weaver Chika Miyara’s dyeing and weaving studio. Ryukyuan indigo has been used for generations in Okinawa to dye thread before it is carefully woven into cloth to give clothes a gentle feel with human warmth. Inside the studio you’ll see a variety of finished articles, such as stoles, beautifully designed with contrasting densities of indigo. Get to know Okinawan indigo dye as you enjoy a trip back into the world of weaving in a traditional Okinawan red tiled house.
