Take a relaxing trip across the ocean in a gently rocking cart pulled by water buffalo
Yubu Island is a small island (of circumference 2.15km) situated adjacent to Iriomote Island. It can be reached from Iriomote Island, by crossing the shallow ocean shoals on carts pulled by water buffalo. The entire island is one large botanical garden, allowing visitors to enjoy the fantastic natural beauty of Japan’s southern islands all year round, with its proudly flowering hibiscus and bougainvillea. The island has various facilities, including restaurants, shops, a butterfly garden and a bougainvillea garden; and visitors can take a leisurely stroll around the island to visit them all.
