An innovative encounter with Sweden and Okinawa
Småkaka Restaurant and Cafe was opened by Swedish owner Anna, who moved to Kume Island in 2016 and renovated an old house to function as the restaurant building. She recreates Swedish cooking (which is a mixture of various culinary cultures) using Okinawan ingredients. The finished result is a diverse variety of multinational fusion dishes. The name Småkaka means “small cakes” in Swedish. In addition to its selection of dishes that change on a daily basis, the restaurant also offers tasty cinnamon rolls that are baked fresh every day, and delicious salmon sandwich with homemade bread.
